PATER REGINALDVS
(Father Reginald Foster)

After attending Aestiva Romae Latinitatis in the summer of 2002, my approach toward both
learning and teaching the language has been forever changed for the better. He
represents the last of a generation of Catholic priest-scholars who not only
learned Latin well, but were in fact educated in Latin. He has tried to pass
this more holistic method on to his students. No serious Latin enthusiast can
afford to miss out on experiencing Reggie as a teacher, mentor, and friend,
which is what he inevitably becomes for his students. Although he was recently
ousted from his longtime teaching job at the Pontifical Gregorian University,
he has taken up residence at the American Institute for Roman Culture, where he
continues to teach year round.
