Biography:

I am currently employed at St. Vincent de Paul High School in Petaluma, CA, where I teach Scripture and Latin.

My book, The Essential Marcus Aurelius, was released by Tarcher-Penguin in January 2008. It is a collaboration with philosopher and scholar Jacob Needleman,

I recently obtained a California State Teaching Credential through Dominican University of California. I also taught Latin at the College Preparatory School in Oakland, CA for the Fall semester of 2005.

My background is primarily in classical thought. In 2004, I completed my M.A. in Classics at San Francisco State University. I wrote my thesis on Aristotle's discussion of friendship in the Nicomachean Ethics. I also hold a B.A. in Philosophy and Religion from the same institution.

In addition to developing and implementing progressive curricula in philosophy and religion for the high school level, I am especially interested in the application of recent theories of language acquisition to the study of Latin. Over the past few years, my experiences with the Summer programs of Reginald Foster, SALVI, and Terence Tunberg, have only increased my enthusiasm for learning and teaching Latin in this way.
